USA Thomas Jefferson Scholarship Program

The Thomas Jefferson Scholarship Program is offering opportunities to higher education institutions through the support of the Americans via the U.S. Department of State. The program is implemented by IREX. Regionally accredited high education institutions in the U.S. are sought to host undergraduate students for two international exchange programs funded by the U.S. Department of State for the 2022/2023 academic year. The two exchange programs include:

  • Thomas Jefferson Scholarship Program
  • Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in Pakistan (Global UGRAD-Pakistan)
The Thomas Jefferson Scholarship

This program offers opportunities for full-time undergraduate institute/university students from Tunisia to engage in one non-degree academic year at a four-year college or university in the U.S. Scholars are expected to carry out at least 20 hours of community service in their host community for a period of their first semester. The students will also partake unpaid, part-time internships in relation to their program during their second semester.

Global UGRAD-Pakistan

This program provides the emerging youth leaders from various communities in Pakistan with the chance for a full-time non-degree study in the U.S. for a period of one semester. The participants will also complete a 20-hour local community service in their one semester and partake an academic skills-building class.

The two programs will provide several support to the students including:

  • J-1 visa support
  • Mandatory university and tuition fees
  • Sickness and accident coverage
  • Round-trip travel from home city to host institution
  • Alumni networking opportunities
  • A limited books allowance
  • Allowance for small incidentals
  • Board and room (meals and housing)
  • Cultural enrichment activities limited allowance
Application Process

Applicants should read through the online application instructions carefully before applying. They need to print a final copy of all application pages and attachments for reference and record. To apply as a host of any of these programs, institutions should submit the application materials via the IREX online application system.
