Romanian Government Scholarship for Foreign Students

The Romanian Government is offering bachelor’s, master’s and postgraduate scholarship for citizens from non-EU nations only through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Who can Apply for the Scholarship?

  • Citizens from all non-European Union countries

What Courses are offered?                 

  • All field courses except Pharmacy, Dental Medicine and Medicine
  • Applicants find the fields of study here (Search Study Programs)

Qualification criteria:

  • Applicants must have good grades in education
  • For Bachelor’s degree, applicants must be graduates of pre-university studies or high school studies and have attained a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent
  • Master’s degree, applicants must have attained a bachelor’s degree
  • Applicants for doctoral programmes must have a master’s degree or equivalent (NB: An entrance exam will be done by PhD applicants as a requirement for admission and obtaining a scholarship)

NB: Language of instruction for master’s and undergraduate studies will be in Romanian language except for doctoral scholarship holders who can choose a foreign language offered in the doctoral school or Romanian language.

Application Process:

  • Fill and submit an online application form through the Study in Romania platform (link to platform)
  • Create an account on the Study in Romania platform above

Required documents:

  • Copies of obtained diplomas or its equivalent, plus doctorate degree, master’s degree, if applicable (NB: Authorized translation into Romanian, English, Spanish or French will be required if the documents are not in any of these languages)
  • Copies of academic transcripts of the completed studies will be required and their authorized translation into Romanian, Spanish, French or English, if applicable.
  • Copy of birth certificate or an equivalent document as well as authorized translation into Romanian, Spanish, French or English if applicable
  • Curriculum Vitae in French or English in the format provided
  • A letter of intent is required in Romanian, Spanish, French or English for doctoral applicants,
The application process will also entail documents for specific special applicants:
  • Copy of certificate showing passing of master’s, bachelor’s baccalaureate exam (for graduates that do not hold a diploma and authorized translation into Romanian, Spanish, French or English) If applicable
  • Copy of evidence of name change and authorized translation into Romanian, Spanish, French or English, if applicable
  • Copy of transcript showing academic record in the final year of study until the day of submitting application file and the authorized translation into Romanian, Spanish, French and English, if applicable
  • Copy of certificate showing that the applicant is in final year of studies and is to take exams for graduation at the end of academic year and the authorized translation into Romanian, Spanish, French or English, if applicable
  • Copy of notarized declaration of consent from a parent for applicants below the age of 18 by the date of start of courses and the authorized translation into Romanian, Spanish, French and English, if applicable
  • Copy of certificate showing completion of Romanian language preparatory year or linguistic competence certificate, if applicable

NB: The documents should be scanned separately and uploaded in PDF format
